Julius Smokes is an American professional wrestling manager, associated most notably with Ring of Honor but has also appeared in Major League Wrestling and Jersey All-Pro Wrestling, among others. He is best known as the manager of ROH's heel stable The Rottweilers.

Ring of Honor

Smokes debuted in ROH in early 2003 as an street thug supporting Homicide, a face at the time, in his feud with Steve Corino and his heel stable called The Group. He appeared in the crowd with other street thugs in the weeks before ROH Epic Encounter, Smokes' in-ring debut. From then on, Smokes functioned as Homicide's cornerman, engaging in a feud with Low Ki over whether Smokes' street lifestyle "belonged in ROH" (ironically, Smokes would later manage Ki). Until Homicide's heel turn in the spring of 2004, Smokes was an entertaining obnoxious face at ringside, spouting such catchphrases as "Yeah yeah yeah!" "Oh yeah!" (said with a distinctive growl) and a sound that defies transcription made by rolling his tongue through either an L or R sound. Now since Homicide's heel turn (and Smokes' coordinating turn), he viciously insults audience members at ringside, shouts more violent catchphrases, and freely interferes in matches.

The Rottweilers

In the fall and winter of 2003, Smokes assembled a face stable called The Rottweilers. Its original members were Homicide, Grim Reefer, Slugger, and Benny Blanco. Other than Homicide, who was already a well-established star with the company, no one from this first incarnation of the Rottweilers really caught on with fans, and the stable was quietly depushed. When the Havana Pitbulls debuted in ROH in the spring of 2004, they joined forces with Homicide and Smokes, now heels, and reformed the Rottweilers. They were soon joined by Low Ki. This heel version of the stable has proven quite resonant with fans and exists to this day (although Ki has left ROH).

Catchphrases

  • "Don't be scurred!"
  • "His hands are too short to box with God!"
  • "Let the gates of hell open!"
  • "Beat it like Michael Jackson!"
  • "Put some cheese on this cracker!"
