John Peterson (born ~1952) is a North American proponent of "bodyweight-only" exercises and creator of Transformetrics™, an exercise system similar to that which was first popularized by Charles Atlas.

In 1969, Peterson founded a design firm, Koechel Peterson & Associates, with David Koechel and four other employeesHe is also the president of Minneapolis, Minnesota[http://www.bronzebowpublishing.com/authors/au_jp.html" target="_blank" >* geared towards aiding individuals in becoming healthier, both physically and spiritually. Although Bronze Bow represents other minor authors, its primary focus is on Peterson's Transformetrics™.

Transformetrics™

Transformetrics™ is a physical fitness system that promotes natural bodybuilding through exercise and has been described as borrowing elements from Atlas, Earle Liederman, and Matt Furey's Combat Conditioning*. It incorporates calisthenics, isometrics, deep breathing techniques, and information on nutrition for the purpose of achieving overall good health and body sculpting. It also employs a blend of exercises including a series of self-resistance exercises that find their roots in the martial arts called "Tiger Moves".

Tiger moves

Also referred to by John Peterson as "The Miracle Seven", "Tiger Moves" are unique to Peterson's Transformetrics™ fitness system. They consist of seven, precisely defined exercises that somewhat resemble movements found in Tai Chi. An important difference, however, is that "Tiger Moves" are performed while simultaneously tensing the muscles in a certain manner. The specific movements and method of tensing the muscles which comprise the "Tiger Moves" were first introduced to Peterson by martial arts master John McSweeney. After having experimented with numerous exercise disciplines, McSweeney felt that nothing compared to "Tiger Moves" when it came to benefits in physical development, strength and health. McSweeney also believed that the movements had an energizing affect on the body and that one "Tiger Move" in particular had "curative powers" that could restore a normal range of motion to injured shoulders.

The basic underlying principle behind "Tiger Moves" is that they embrace a natural method of achieving fitness, an instinctual form of exercise such as that utilized by Tigers and other animals. They do not require a gym or employ mechanical devices and equipment which, over time, can strain and injure the bones and tissues of the skeletomuscular system. To the contrary, "Tiger Moves" can be practiced anytime and anywhere without adverse affects and are adaptable for people of all fitness levels.
