John Chambers is president and CEO of Cisco Systems.

He joined the company in 1991 as senior vice president of Worldwide Sales and Operations and was promoted to CEO in early January 1995. Prior to joining Cisco, Chambers worked at Wang Laboratories for eight years and at IBM for six years.

Chambers holds a bachelors in business and a law degree from West Virginia University, as well as a MBA from Indiana University. Chambers attended Duke University from 1967 until 1968. While at Duke, he was a member of the School of Engineering and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is currently married and has two children.
