Jana Bennett OBE is Director of Television at the BBC. She took up the post in April 2002, having previously been Executive Vice President and General Manager at Discovery Communications in the USA.

Born in New Hampshire, Bennett moved to Britain in 1969, and first joined the BBC in 1979. She worked on various news programmes before becoming editor of Horizon in 1990. In 1994 she was appointed the BBC's Head of Science, and was awarded an OBE in 2000 for her work in science broadcasting.
