James "Jim" Longley Jr., born July 7 1951, in Lewiston, Maine, is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and a Republican politician from Maine.
The son of Independent Governor Jim Longley, Longley attended Phillips Andover Academy, received his B.A. from Holy Cross, then returned to study law at the University of Maine.
Longley was elected as part of the "Republican Revolution" of 1994. He was defeated for reelection by then-Portland Mayor Tom Allen in 1996. In 1998, Longley ran an unsuccessful campaign for Governor and was defeated by the popular incumbent, Angus King.
