J Records is a major record label, it is a part of the Sony BMG music conglomerate. It was founded in 2000 by music veteran Clive Davis, after his ousting from Arista Records.

For the first few years of the label operation, it was distributed by BMG — but was an independently managed company. BMG bought a majority stake in the label in 2002 and shifted it to operate under RCA Records Group, where Davis was appointed President and CEO.

In August 2005 the label's operations were merged with Arista, through the imprints of both labels will continue to be use for upcoming releases.
