1986 - Brothers Tim and Eric Crown founded Insight Enterprises Inc. and the "Insight" brand in 1988. Their vision - to meet the growing demand for high quality computer products with low prices and solid service. The brothers started the company with a $2,000 credit card loan and launched a direct marketing approach to sales - the concept met with immediate success.

1997 - Expanded internationally by initiating operations in Canada.

1998 - Initiated operations in the United Kingdom through an acquisition that brought with it PlusNet, a UK-based Internet Service Provider.

2001 - Insight acquired additional computer direct marketers in Canada and the United Kingdom. Today, Insight UK is one of the largest technology resellers in the United Kingdom.

2002 - By 2002, 90% of Insight's revenue was from the business-to-business customer (B2B). In April 2002, Insight acquired an Illinois-based, technology reseller and services provider of IT products. This broadened Insight's market reach to include medium-to-large enterprise and public sector customers.

Insight Enterprises, Inc. became a publicly traded company in 1995, selling its stock on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol NSIT.
