Insight Communications is a cable provider in the United States. Founded in 1985, Insight Communications Company, Inc. is the nation's ninth largest cable operator, providing state-of-the-art entertainment and communication services to 1.3 million customers living in mid-sized communities within the contiguous states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Headquartered in New York City, the company was formed in 1985 by cable veterans Michael S. Willner and Sidney R. Knafel.

Carlyle Group buyout


Insight's Board of Directors includes three members of the Carlyle Group, a global equity investment firm specialized in leveraged buyouts. Carlyle's corporate website lists Insight as a buyout with a status of unrealized.
