IRB stands for Inflatable Rescue Boat. The IRB is used by Surf Lifesaving in Australia and New Zealand as a quick way to get out the back of breaking waves and to pick up people in need.

IRB racing involves various different events such as mass rescues, relays, assembly. Competitions are generally held over the summer months between competing Surf Clubs.
