Hornsby railway station is a railway station at the junction between the North Shore and Main Northern railway lines of the CityRail network in Sydney, Australia. It also serves the commercial and residential area of Hornsby. Confusingly, trains from Hornsby via the Shore can return to Hornsby via the Main, and visa versa. On July 10th 2003, this caused the communications system in a Millennium Train to fail because the train's software could not compute that the origin and destination of the service had the same name.
Shorelink runs a number of services to and from Hornsby railway station:
Hornsby is one of the best locations in the state of New South Wales for Railfans, because of the large number, large variety of trains including freight trains, and because of the complexity of operation of the points and signals many of which are close enough to be seen from the platforms.
