Hopper Barge is a kind of non-mechanical (cannot move around itself) ship or vessel in the category of Barge, which can carry the dumping materials (like rocks, sand, soil and rubbish) to fill up the sea, river or lake for land by the method of reclamation.

There are serveral hopper or cabin in between the fore and aft bulkhead of the barge. Also there is some hopper door under the hopper, that is the bottom of the barge hull. Usually the doors are closed, so that she can carry the dumping materils. However, the doors will be open, when the ship is arrived at her destination position for leaving the dumping materils.
