Hohenzollern-Hechingen is a branch of the senior Swabian branch of the Hohenzollern dynasty, less known however than the Franconian branch which became Burgraves of Nuremberg and later ruled Brandenburg, Prussia and ultimately Germany. The Princes of Hohenzollern-Hechingen ruled over a small principality in southwest Germany. The principality was a member state of the German Confederation between 1815 and 1850. In 1850 it was incorporated into Prussia.
