The Head of the Charles Regatta is a rowing race held annually on the Charles River, which separates Boston, Massachusetts from Cambridge. With 7500 athletes, it is the largest rowing regatta in the world.

The course is approximately 3 miles long.

The competitive field is includes individual and team competitors from colleges, high schools, and clubs from most states, and several countries. The age of athletes spans from 15 to 85 years old. Additional features include a 2 day music concert, and several on-land activities. The regatta attracts up to 250,000 spectators over the 2 day event. The regatta is held each year on the penultimate weekend of October. The 42nd Head Of The Charles will be held on October 21 & 22, 2006
