Head of State is a 2003 American movie starring Chris Rock.
The plot begins by introducing Mays Gilliam (Chris Rock) who is a 9th ward low-ranking official in the Washington D.C. area. After being fired from his post, Mays surprisingly is chosen as the party candidate for the presidency against sitting vice president Brian Lewis. The movie was ultimately to pick a losing candidate to better the chances of another politician taking the office later on. However, after a rocky start, Mays' polls begin to go up after his brother persuades him to speak out for what he believes. Mays then finds out the reason why he was chosen as the party candidate and fires some of the unloyal operatives on his campaign. Eventually, he ends up winning the election and presidency.
