Haran (הָרָן) was a son of Terah, and brother of Nahor and Abram. Genesis 11:29 records that Haran was the father of Lot, Milcah, and Iscah(Genesis 11:27)
Haran was also an ancient locality. Abram lived in Haran for about 5 years before continuing on to Canaan. The city of Harran in modern northern Syria/southern Turkey may be the city that Abraham and his father Terah settled in (and named after Haran) on the way to Canaan (Genesis 11:31), or it may have been near Ur. The Bilblical text is ambiguous.
