Johann Joseph ("Hans") Kmoch (July 25, 1894–February 13, 1973) was a chess International Master (1950) and International Arbiter (1951). He became best known as a chess author. In 1959, he wrote Pawn Power in Chess (German: Die Kunst der Bauernführung). He also served as the Secretary and manager of the Manhattan Chess Club in New York City.
