The Hammer (also spelled Hamar) are a tribal people in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region of Ethiopia. They live in Hammer Bena woreda (or district) in the Omo River valley. They are largely pastoralists, and their culture places a high value of cattle. The Assistant Administrator of Hammer Bena Ato Imnet Gashab has commented that only six tribal members have ever completed secondary education.

On a 2006 episode of the Discovery Channel television series Going Tribal, host Bruce Parry visited the Hamar tribe.*
