Gumtree is a network of free online classifieds and community websites in the UK, Ireland, Poland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, similar to Craigslist in the US. The main categories are flat / house share and for rent, goods for sale, community, friends and partners, jobs and business services.
Michael and Simon also started chillitree.com and fruitcamp.com at the same time.
Gumtree.com is now London's largest flatshare and job site, and it continues to grow quickly in London and elsewhere. All listings are free, except for some job categories in London.
Gumtree was acquired by eBay in May 2005 for an undisclosed fee.
