Gridiron can mean many different things:

  • In urban planning, a gridiron plan system describes an ordered arrangement of streets in a regular grid pattern, intersecting at right angles
  • In theatres, the gridiron is a metal framework suspended above the stage from which lights and other items are hung
  • A gridiron (cooking) is also a type of grill that can be used to cook meat or other food over a fire
  • A gridiron pendulum is a part of a pendulum clock as designed by John Harrison
  • Gridiron (science fiction story) — a story about a semi-intelligent large office building going wild, because it is infected by intelligent malevolent virus software
  • Gridiron Club - a journalistic organization in Washington, D.C., USA
