The term Global Justice Movement is an alternative term to describe the loose collection of individuals and groups who advocate fair international trading rules and are critical of current institutions of global economic governance, such as the World Trade Organization, International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank. The movement is often labelled the anti-globalization movement by the mainstream media. However, as with the term alter-globalization, "Global Justice Movement" rejects the term "anti-globalization", to indicate that it is not globalization as such which is opposed, but unjust institutions of global governance. The term also indicates a humanist, anti-capitalist and universalist perspective on globalization, to distinguish the movement from those opponents of globalization whose politics are based on a conservative defence of national sovereignty.
