Global Grover is a recurring segment in Sesame Street. In the segments, Grover reminises of his recent "travels" around the world, then shows actual video segments from the countries. Each film features children engaged in activities related to their individual cultures.
According to Sesame Workshop, "Designed to encourage respect and understanding in a kid-friendly way, the segments introduce viewers to new and exciting customs, traditions and daily life abroad. Global Grover takes it one step further, highlighting not only differences but also celebrating what we have in common."
Global Grover has been distributed separately as a 5-minute, 30-episode series, which began airing in fall 2005. Canada's Treehouse TV was among the stations to pick the series up, in November 2005. The series tacks on opening and closing credits, plus an existing animated segment from Sesame Street, to round out the program.
