Gilles Kepel is a prominent French scholar and analyst of the Islamic and the Arab world. He has written works on Radical Islam including The Trail of Political Islam.

His recent books received some criticism in the US for being too dismissive of the threat of Islamism or too critical of the US.

Biography


He holds degrees in Arabic, English and philosophy. A graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (better known as Sciences Po), Kepel has received doctorates in political science and in sociology.
