Ghalyun (قليان; also Ghelyan,Kalyan, Qalyan, Qelyan, Ghalyoon, and Ghelyoon) is a traditional water pipe from Iran. It is similar in many ways to the Arabic hookah but has its own unique attributes.

Mostly called "Ghelyoon" in Iranian slang, this version of the hookah can be traced in Iran to the Qajar period. Today in many regions of the country and specially in Tehran, many young as well as old men and women visit tea houses and traditional restaurants for the sake of smoking. The hookah can also be found in many homes.

It is highly popular in Iran even today, and can be seen commonly in many teahouses, restaurants, and similar public spaces. Popular tobacco flavors include: Apple, peach, lemon, coconut, orange, strawberry, mint, banana, licorice, coffee and coke. In Iran, as in many other countries, hookah is served along with tea, dates and other sweets to alleviate the change in blood pressure that may be caused by smoking it. Hookah prices can range from 5,000 Toman ($4.50 to $4-5 thousand (4000000-5000000 Toman.)

Until a few months ago, ghelyoon was served to all ages. Recently, however, Iranian officials have agreed on a policy to ban children aged less than 20 from smoking hookah.
