Geosphere is a term denoting the solid part of Earth which is made mostly of rock and regolith. Skinner, B: "The Dynamic Earth.", page 21. John Wiley & Sons, Inc, 2000 ISBN:0-471-16118-7

The main divisions of the geosphere are the crust, mantle, and core. The outer core is unusual in that it is liquid and a part of Earth's interior.

One specific part of the geosphere is the lithosphere which consists of the rigid mantle and the asthenosphere. The term "lithospere" is sometimes confused with "geosphere." However, the geosphere is mucn more than just the lithosphere. http://earth.rice.edu/mtpe/geo/geosphere.html
