The Georgian period was the period in British history between 1714 and 1830, between the accession of George I and the death of George IV (with the sub-period of the Regency, defined by the Regency of George IV as Prince of Wales during the madness of his father George III). In British historical writing, it is often used as a shorthand for the 18th century.
