George Griffith (full name George Chetwyn Griffith-Jones; (1857–1906)) was a British science fiction writer and noted explorer who wrote during the turn of the century. His works appeared in magazines such as Pearson's Magazine. Griffith was never popular in the United States due to his political views, and was overshadowed by Herbert George Wells.
Griffith was also an explorer, and broke a record for travelling around the world; as well, he helped discover the source of the Amazon river.
Sam Moskowitz described him as "undeniably the most popular science fiction writer in England between 1893 and 1895.
