Gebze (classical name: Libyssa) is an industrial town in Kocaeli Province, Turkey. It is situated 30 miles east of Istanbul on the northern shore of the Marmara Sea. The town has grown rapidly in recent years, from 159,116 in 1990 to 253,487 in 2000 (census figures].
