GamerPlug, despite having a blog as the opening page, is a forum-based website that posts news about most video-games. The site originally started as free forums which were called POWOW. Later, the site became TribesAA.com, which slowly became the unofficial website for Aerial Assault. At the time, it was run by two gamers who acted as admins, MAYHEM and SKULLI, and some developers of the game. After a professional web-hoster named TySoft came onto the scene, he helped the site evolve into it's modern form as GamerPlug.

Tribes: Aerial Assault

Originally, GamerPlug was based off of free forums that were called POWOW boards. Many active gamers that played Tribes: Aerial Assault joined the site and then a domain name, TribesAA.com, was purchased. TribesAA.com was the site of the first GTT, otherwise known as the Guild Tribal Tournament. The site became established as the unofficial website of Tribes: Aerial Assault and nearly all gamers that played online had an account on TribesAA.com.

Area 51

Inevitable Entertainment (now Midway Austin), the company responsible for developing Tribes: Aerial Assault, went on to make a new game, Area 51. In the credits of the game, Ricochet, the developer who was most involved with GamerPlug, thanked not only GamerPlug as a whole, but all of its administrators and moderators personally. This caused a lot of excitement at the website because many of the members of the site were excited to "be in a video game".
