Gabbeh carpet is a trible hand-knotted carpet crafted almost exclusively by women from qashqai tribes in south of Iran. This kind of carpet is much thicker than other Persian carpets, sometimes as much as one inch in volume. Its pattern is of a very basic kind with only a limited number of decorative, mostly rectangular objects resembling mainly animals. Carpets are usually in bright light colours like yellow and red it is made of natural wool and all the colours are natural dyes. Due to its relative ease of production (less precise pattern, small number of knots per sq cm) a Gabbeh carpet is going to be one of the cheaper carpet compared with any other similar quality and size Persian carpet.
