Frontier Strip refers to the six U.S. states from North Dakota south to Texas. These states basically form a straight line from north to south. The term Frontier Strip is probably an allusion to the days of the American Wild West, when the states (some of which were territories at that point) on the Strip were considered to be rugged outposts.
