Fourvière is a suburb of Lyon, France located on a hill immediately west of the old part of the town. While it gives its name to a funicular line, it is known primarily for the Catholic cathedral the Basilica of Fourvière and the television tower La Tour Métallique which forms the highest point of Lyon.

Fourvière is also home to a highway tunnel, connecting northern and southern France , which is often jammed , especially during the summer holiday period
