The trade centre Fort Colville was built by the Hudson's Bay Company at Kettle Falls, a few miles west of Colville, Washington in 1825. It was named for Andrew Colville, a London governor of Hudson's Bay Company. Since the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam, the site is flooded, inundated by Lake Roosevelt.
