Korea was formed in 1945 after World War 2. It was divided by 1950-53 Korean War, between North Korea (communist), and South Korea (capitalist). An internal revolution happened in S.Korea in 1961. Following this, new rules decided RSK (Republic of South Korea) had to change. The aim was to be self reliant and for RSK to support itself.
The change was controlled by 5 year plans (5YPs), which started in 1962. They were designed to increase wealth within RSK, and to shift away from spending money on imports to increase the money from exports. South Korea
