Fianarantsoa is a city in the Fianarantsoa Province of southeastern Madagascar. It is at an average altitude of 1200 meters, and has a population of 144,225 (2001 census). Fianarantsoa means "Good education" in Malagasy. It is home to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Fianarantsoa.
