Eye protection refers to protective clothing for the eyes, which comes in many types depending upon the threat that is to be reduced.

Safety glasses protect against flying debris but may also protect against visible and near visible light or radiation.

Sunglasses protect against high levels of visible and ultraviolet light. Welding glass is a more extreme implementation of the same idea, suited to the more intense light generated during welding; it can also be used to stare directly at the sun (i.e. to view a solar eclipse).

Goggles are forms of protective eyewear that usually enclose or protect the eye area in order to prevent particulates or chemicals from striking the eyes.

Laser protection eyewear is used to protect eyes from damage from visible and invisible wavelegths of laser light. They can be similar to goggles or be lenses incorporated into other pieces of protective eyewear. Intrabeam viewing of lasers usually requires a low power laser even with protective goggles. Laser protection goggles work on the basis that laser light is one frequency, making it easy to filter out. Laser goggles are subject to degradation and damage like any other kind of eyewear.

Prices depend on the cost, quality, wavelength(s), and type of goggle/lens. Prices range from $20 for a single lens to thousands of dollars per set of goggles.
