ExtraLife is a video game related webcomic by Scott Johnson. It contains humor pertaining mainly to things in the realm of geekdom. The humor comes primarily from jokes on computer games and/or internet slang. It is drawn in a post-modern surreal style by hand and colored in photoshop. Some of the humor does veer off into toilet humor at times. Users have participated in making the punchlines on occasion.
Podcast
Scott Johnson hosts a weekly podcast entitled Extralife Radio. The Podcast has had more of an impact than the actual comic. As of November 14 2005 the Podcast is #1 on Yahoo's highest rated podcasts list. The Podcast is in panel discussion format with regularly occurring segments including The crappy movie of the week, Fan emails, Dean Cain references, How are the Graaaaphics, and much much more. There is a regular panel of five people and usually at least one special guest per episode. Extralife Radio also boasts strong listener interaction. It was one of the first Podcasts to have a user community actually participate in the production of the podcast. In addition to the reading fan emails on the air, Scott allows users to leave audio comments on a special hotline, and he has been known to call listeners who express interest in being on the show.
Blog
The site also features Scott's News Blog. The Blog is Scott's direct connection to his readers and listeners. He is known to update his Blog many times a day and highly encourages readers to use the comment feature. He posts anything and everything that he finds interesting.
