Eucoelophysis (meaning "true hollow tail") was the original type specimen of Coelophysis, before it was transfered to a better-preserved specimen. This dinosaur was long assumed to be a coelophysid (in fact, as it originally was Coelophysis, it was once the type of that family), though a 2004 study by Nesbitt et al. found that it was actually a lagosuchian, possibly a close relative of Silesaurus. It lived in the Triassic period of North America.
