The Etruscan Pygmy Shrew or White-toothed Pygmy Shrew (Suncus etruscus) is the smallest known mammal by mass, weighing only about 2 grams. (The smallest known mammal by skull size is the Bumblebee Bat). The Etruscan Pygmy Shrew inhabits forests and brush areas between Southern Asia and Southern Europe. A forager, the pygmy shrew subsists largely upon insects (thus its placement in the Insectivora order).
