The Essex Senior League is an English football league covering Essex and East London. It is a feeder to the Isthmian League. It sits at step 5 (or level 9) of the National League System. In 2006 the Football Association asked the league and the Kent League to consider a possible future merger. For a team to be relegated from the Essex Senior League they would have to resign their Senior Status and join an Intermediate League.

The Essex Senior League was formed in 1971, there were 9 founder members that would contest the league for the 1971-72 season. The final table:
