Generally speaking, episcopal churches are Christian denominations under the leadership of a bishop (episcopos in Greek). There are numerous such groupings in the Christian word (see episcopal). Episcopal churches have a particluar governing structure and character (see episcopal polity)

Anglican Communion


In a more colloquial sense, there are numerous provinces of the Anglican Communion which incorporate the term "Episcopal Church" into their title, and are so designated. These include:

There are also independent Anglican churches which incorporate the title "Episcopal," such as the Reformed Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Missionary Church, and the Traditional Protestant Episcopal Church.
