East Point is a minor neighborhood of Atlanta in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 39,595. The city is named for being at the opposite end of the former Atlanta & West Point Railroad from West Point, Georgia.
The city is the home to R&B and hip hop groups such as TLC, OutKast, Coolbreeze, Organized Noize, and Goodie Mob. A portion of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is located in East Point, as well as a repository for data collected from the U.S. Census. East Point is also the home of one of the few working velodromes (the Dick Lane Velodrome) in the United States. It is also the home of Teddy Geiger.

East Point is located at (33.676008, -84.451277).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 35.7 km² (13.8 mi²). 35.6 km² (13.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.07% is water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 39,595 people, 14,553 households, and 9,430 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,111.8/km² (2,878.9/mi²). There were 15,637 housing units at an average density of 439.1/km² (1,137.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 16.10% White, 78.16% African American, 0.20% Native American, 0.62% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 3.40% from other races, and 1.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.57% of the population.
There were 14,553 households out of which 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 28.7% were married couples living together, 28.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.2% were non-families. 27.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.27.
In the city the population was spread out with 29.3% under the age of 18, 11.9% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females there were 89.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $31,874, and the median income for a family was $36,099. Males had a median income of $27,114 versus $25,839 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,175. About 17.2% of families and 20.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 30.0% of those under age 18 and 13.6% of those age 65 or over.
