The European Quality Improvement System (or EQUIS) is a school accreditation system without recognition from the US Department of Education or any foreign government oversight. It specializes in higher education institutions of management and business administration, run by the European Foundation for Management Development. As of May 2006, EQUIS has accredited 92 business schools in 28 coutries around the worldList of accredited members.
It was created in 1998 under Gordon Shenton and the current director is Julio Urgel. In the past seven years of existence the organization has accredited 84 institutions in 28 countries.
