ELLEgirl was the largest older-teen fashion and beauty magazine brand in the world with 12 editions and supplements worldwide. It was the younger sibling to ELLE Magazine.

Like ELLE, ELLEgirl focused on fashion, beauty, health, and entertainment and looked at daring fashion - its slogan: "Dare to be different".

Its staffers were informed in early April 2006 that ELLEgirl (USA)'s last issue will be its June/July 2006 Summer Issue, while they were already in the middle of working on the August issue. The company intends to continue with updating the ellegirl.com web content and creating new media in conjunction with Alloy.com, some of which will be subscription-only exclusive content, and plans to publish biannual special issues.

Hachette Filipacchi CEO Jack Kliger on ELLEgirl's future on the internet: "When teen girls are not on the Web, they are on their cells," said Kliger. He said that the company will keep the Web site and "work on ELLEgirl ringtones, wallpaper mobile pages and projects in the mobile blogging area."

International editions are published in the United Kingdom, South Korea, Holland, Quebec, Taiwan, Japan, Russia, France, Germany and China. ELLEgirl USA provided most foreign editions 60% of their content, yet it has not been announced whether all of the foreign editions will also fold. Three teen magazines have now folded under Christina Kelly as Editor in Chief: first Sassy Magazine, then YM Magazine, and most recently ELLEgirl.
