Drug, Hospital, and Health Care Employees Union is a labor union originally founded by Leon J. Davis for pharmacists and drug clerks in New York City in 1932. The union lead historic campaigns to improve pay and benefits for pharmacy workers, hospital employees and nurses. Its leaders were investigated as possible communists by the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1948. DHHCE, now part of the SEIU, has a history of progressive action for social justice and civil rights as well as culture and the arts.
