Dream Team is a British television series produced by Hewland International and aired by Sky One, that chronicles the on-field and off-field affairs of the fictional Harchester United F.C..
A significant part of the action, including game play, is shot at The New Den, the home ground of the Football League Championship club Millwall, though recent matches in season 9 have been shot at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea.
The series has run for 8 seasons and currently screening the 9th Season. Although the show has had a long and successful run, its viewing figures have been in decline recently and the cancellation of the show has been announced. The 10th season of the show will be the last, with the final ever episode expected to screen in May 2007. The club are based in the fictional town of Harchester (which is said to be close to Tamworth) in the West Midlands. The most popular stars of the show are Alison King who plays Lynda Block and Terry Kiely who played Karl Fletcher.
In the 2003-04 season, the team finished fourth in the Premiership, qualifying for the Champions League qualifying phase, but was also relegated to The Championship because of a match fixing scandal. The 2004-05 season saw the team make it into the Champions League group phase. It also saw Harchester defeat West Ham United in the Championship playoff final (in real life, West Ham defeated Preston North End in the playoff final that season). But following that feat, the bus carrying most of the team was involved in an explosion, caused by ex-manager Don Barker deliberately driving straight into the bus.
Celebrity cameo appearances have included Jordan, Rebecca Loos and Craig Charles, as well as a host of footballers such as ex-England internationals Rodney Marsh and Chris Powell, Dutch international Mario Melchiot and recently departed Charlton manager Alan Curbishley. Dannielle Brent has made an appearance as Jennifer Taylor.
When the season climaxed there was a mystery person holding an object and they struck Prashant in the head and left him for dead.
This was the first season that Harchester United played football outside the Premiership, they managed successfully to win promotion in the play-off final, but the majority of the team were killed instantly when ex-manager Don Barker (who was about to be arrested for the murder of Karl Fletcher) crashed his car at speed into the team coach in a suicide bid which saw the entire team bar 3 player perish.
