Draw has the following meanings:

  • Drawing is one way of making an image by making marks on a specific place with a writing utensil.

  • In tournaments, a draw is a list of which player/team is playing which other player/team in the current round. Methods of producing the draw range from all-play-all through complex mathematically determined models to random.

  • In gambling, a draw is a lottery, especially one in which winning tickets are literally drawn (pulled) from a container, or indicates a specific selection event ("today's draw") among a recurring or serial lottery.

  • In poker,
    • Draw poker is the general name for any variant in which each player is dealt a complete hand before the first betting round, and then develops the hand for later rounds by replacing cards.
    • One is said to be drawing in a poker game if one has a hand that is incomplete and needs further cards to become valuable. The hand itself is called a draw.

  • In American football, a draw play is one that "tricks" the defense into thinking a pass is being thrown, when in fact a running play has been called.

  • In golf, a draw is a type of golf shot where the ball curves slightly from right to left.
