In the fictional world of Nip/Tuck, Dr. Barrett Moore (Played by Alec Baldwin), is a plastic surgeon renowned for his gender reassignment procedures. He has had a close relationship with a woman named Ava Moore, who was revealed to be transsexual after Christian Troy noticed her unusually shallow vaginal canal while attempting intercourse with her. Dr. Moore performed sex reassignment surgery on Ava Moore, formerly known as Avery Tanner.

Retired and divorced, Dr. Moore's son Adrian Moore committed suicide after confronting his transgendered stepmother, Ava.

Actor Alec Baldwin's sole appearance as Dr. Moore was in the second season finale episode, "Joan Rivers." Baldwin was expected to return as a guest star in episode 3.8 ("Tommy Bolton"), but for reasons unknown he was not in the episode and his character was not even mentioned or alluded to.
