Dover Island is the best bouldering area around Halifax, Nova Scotia and the premier bouldering destination in Atlantic Canada. Located 1 mile off shore, Dover Island is a combination of quality bouldering problems and breath taking scenery. Dover Island is home to over 100 bouldering problems concentrated in a tiny area ranging from V0 - V10 with many new problems yet to be discovered:

  • Dover Island is also know as Taylor Island
  • Dover has over 100 unbelievable boulder problems with more being discovered every trip.
  • Dover has been used by locals as a vacation spot for--- years. They even have had weddings there.
  • Dover Island has 13 known rare and endangered species including one of the highest concentrations of the Slender Blue Flag Iris
  • Dover is suspected to have at least 50 rare and endangered species.

• Some things to remember when enjoying Dover Island:
  • Camp in previously used campsites
  • When walking on the Island STAY TO THE TRAILS AND ROCK. Do not cut across the vegetation because you can trample rare species and potentially upset nesting birds
  • Respect the locals and their facilities. With out their blessing we would not be able to use this climbing paradise.
  • Follow “Leave No Trace” practices.

Climb Nova Scotia hosts Boulderfest every year on Dover Island. Boulderfest is a popular event that usually sells out within the first day of ticket sales.
