''This article is about a metasearch engine, dogpile is also the name of a game where everyone piles on top of each other.

Dogpile is a metasearch engine that "fetches" results from About.com, Ask.com, FindWhat, Google, LookSmart, MSN, Teoma, Yahoo! and several other popular search engines, including audio and video.

Dogpile began operations in November of 1996 and became part of the Go2net Network in 1999 which in turn was acquired by InfoSpace, Inc. (InfoSpace also owns Metacrawler, Webcrawler and Excite).

In 2005, Dogpile published a study about first page web search engine results overlap. The study showed 3% overlap between Google, Yahoo!, and Ask Jeeves. 85% of the results were unique to one of the three engines.

Dogpile includes features other than searching, such as:

Dogpile's mascot is a dog, specifically a Dalmatian, named "Arfie", that "fetches" search results in news, web, images, and music. Like the Google logo, Arfie will occasionally change his appearance for certain holidays and other events.
