Dinuba is a city in Tulare County, California, United States. The population was 17,895 at the 2003 census.

Dinuba is located at (36.544898, -119.389260).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.9 km² (3.4 mi²), all land.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there were 16,844 people, 4,493 households, and 3,724 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,901.6/km² (4,923.8/mi²). There were 4,670 housing units at an average density of 527.2/km² (1,365.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 52.34% White, 0.36% African American, 1.28% Native American, 2.62% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 37.98% from other races, and 5.28% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 75.08% of the population.

There were 4,493 households out of which 52.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.8% were married couples living together, 16.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.1% were non-families. 14.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.72 and the average family size was 4.02.

In the city the population was spread out with 35.8% under the age of 18, 12.7% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 15.0% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 26 years. For every 100 females there were 103.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $33,345, and the median income for a family was $33,769. Males had a median income of $23,663 versus $25,364 for females. The per capita income for the city was $11,566. About 21.1% of families and 26.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 37.1% of those under age 18 and 12.3% of those age 65 or over.
